The signal system includes a signal controller installed in the pump station, a monitor installed in the sewage treatment plan in a remote location and mobile phone of operators. The system is connected through SMS of GSM network.

The signal controller in the pump station runs independent from the PLC. The controller have sensor or interface connecte the following devices: 

• Sewage pumps
• Sewage water tank
• Flow meters
• Power sources (normal, emergency or UPS)
• Human operations (i.e. button push)

In an event of status change on devices being monitored, the system will create an event message. The event messages, or periodic timer triggered data collection are distributed to:

• Remote monitor installed in treatment plan ever 30 sec.
• Local storage (if host link is turn off)
• Host PC
• Mobile phone as alert message (where there is an abnormal operation)

As part of the system, the system provides a host interface for the host PC. A software application is included with the system, which enable the administrator to: 

• Real time monitoring
• Set system initial conditions
• Operator management (name, phone number)
• Alert message subscription
• Create daily operation reports.

A signaling system running independent of the main control provides an extra protection to the pump station. The signal system also reduces the work load, or even eliminates the need for on site operator.
