Alexandria, United States – Agrology, a seed-stage climate technology start-up, has announced that the company is one of six partners awarded approximately $5M in funding from the USDA’s Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities initiative. Together the partners will further develop the capacity for growers to quantify climate-smart practices. Agrology was chosen as the partner to quantify regenerative practices in real time due to their MRV platform, ground-truth measurements, and monitoring of greenhouse gasses and soil carbon respiration. McLean, United States – Kajeet, a provider of managed IoT connectivity solutions and private wireless networks, appointed Ben Weintraub as the company’s new CEO effective January 1, 2023. Weintraub previously served as president and COO, during which time he helped lead the company’s significant growth and developed a streamlined approach to business. Weintraub succeeds Daniel Neal, who together founded Kajeet in 2003. Neal will now serve as executive chair of the board for Kajeet. This announcement aligns with Kajeet’s 20th year in business. Atmosic Technologies, a developer in energy harvesting wireless platforms for the Internet of Things (IoT), and Energous Corporation, a developer of RF-based power for wireless networks, have announced a software update for their wirelessly powered sensor evaluation kit featuring Atmosic’s energy harvesting Bluetooth Low Energy system-on-chip (SoC) solutions and Energous’ FCC-certified 1W WattUp PowerBridge transmitter. The kit update now supports the recently announced AirFuel Alliance RF wireless power and charging standard to further enable the adoption and interoperability of radio frequency (RF) as a power source in addition to data communications. San Jose, United States – TDK Corporation has agreed to acquire Qeexo, Co., a U.S.-based venture-backed company spun out of Carnegie Mellon University engaged in the automation of end-to-end machine learning for edge devices. As a result of the acquisition, Qeexo will become a wholly owned subsidiary of TDK, subject to customary closing conditions, including approval of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the US (CFIUS). UBILITE has announced that Peter L. Gammel has joined the company as its new CEO. Mr. Gammel most recently held the position of vice president and CTO of the Mobile and Wireless Infrastructure Business Unit at GlobalFoundries. Previously, he was the CTO of Skyworks Solutions, Inc. and also served as CTO and vice president of engineering at SiGe Semiconductor before its acquisition by Skyworks. Prior to SiGe Semiconductor, he was vice president of engineering at Renaissance Wireless and CTO at Advance Nanotech and for Agere Systems’ Analogue Products Business.
