u-blox has taken an important step forward on its sustainability programme and published its 2023 Sustainability Report in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards.
Sustainability is an integral part of u-blox strategy. Reporting in accordance with GRI Standards is an important step for u-blox as it helps to efficiently inform about u-blox’s sustainability activities and approach to environmental, social and governance (ESG) activities.
Based on a materiality assessment, u-blox has identified a roadmap to reach its targets based on five focus areas:
• Business ethics, privacy and data security
• People and communities
• Environmental responsibility
• Responsible supply chain
• u-blox innovations
u-blox has set specific environmental, social and governance short, medium and long-term targets based on measurable performance indicators for each pillar.
u-blox estimates that its technologies positively impact 13 out of 17 UN SDGs. The company added a new pillar and target to its sustainability strategy in 2023 to shape the social and environmental impact of its innovations. Consequently, u-blox has set a target to assess their product portfolio of modules and chips for their contribution to the SDGs by the end of 2025.
Stephan Zizala, the chief executive officer of u-blox, said, “Sustainability is an integral part of our strategy, and applications contributing to sustainability are major growth drivers for u-blox. We are fortunate to be able to create solutions that make the world a better place. The u-blox Sustainability Report for 2023 shows our contribution and our measurable targets for a more sustainable future.”

Aetheros has announced that it has added GSMA remote SIM provisioning (RSP) support to its flagship software product AetherOS (AOS). Utilities customers can now provision their smart grid eSIMs for the fast, reliable and secure AT&T nationwide network.
In North America, AetherOS is available on the Aclara I-210+c and kV2c Gen 5 smart meters. Utilities need secure, reliable and resilient wireless connectivity to deliver new services to customers and connect to their customers’ smart meters. With remote SIM provisioning, utility companies have the power of choice and flexibility to deploy AMI 2.0 on public, private or hybrid networks.
“Working with AT&T, we have developed a secure and scalable eSIM solution for utility companies that want to build out private 4G/5G LTE networks,” said Ray Bell, the founder and CEO of Aetheros. “By adding eSIM support to AOS, these utilities now have a zero-cost option for migrating their smart meters between their private and public LTE networks.”
AetherOS is an open standards-based network operating system and edge computing platform based on Linux. At the core of AOS is its oneM2M compliant IoT Service Layer software with integrated OMA SpecWorks compliant LightweightM2M support, that together provide devices and applications with secure, reliable, and scalable device, application, and network management services. This rich set of services provided by the AOS open standards based IoT Service Layer enables utilities to securely and deploy and manage their intelligent edge applications on market leading residential, commercial and industrial smart meters.
“AT&T is committed to assisting utilities that are using advanced 4G/5G cellular networking in their next-generation smart metering infrastructure network buildouts,” said David Garver, a Area vice president, AT&T Connected Solutions. “AT&T has a long history of working with utilities customers providing fast, reliable and secure telecommunications services. By working with Aetheros to deliver eSIM support for smart meters, AT&T is empowering utilities to deploy LTE smart meters on the AT&T nationwide network and their private networks.”

Keysight Technologies has introduced the E7515W UXM Wireless Connectivity Test Platform for Wi-Fi, a network emulation solution delivering signalling radio frequency (RF) and throughput testing for devices using Wi-Fi 7, including 4×4 MIMO 320 MHz bandwidth.
Developed by the IEEE as the 802.11be standard, Wi-Fi 7 is the next generation of Wi-Fi wireless communications technology, promising significant performance advancements and improvements over the previous Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 6 standards.
As with any new wireless technology, device makers must perform signalling RF and throughput on clients and access points (AP) to ensure Wi-Fi 7 devices work as intended when deployed. However, existing solutions require complicated test setups with a large number of Wi-Fi devices and network channels to emulate real-world operating conditions.
The newest Keysight UXM Wireless Connectivity Test Solution addresses this challenge by giving RF engineers a solution that simplifies Wi-Fi 7 testing and provides a physical (PHY) layer and media access control (MAC) layer insights.
“With the introduction of the E7515W solution, Keysight is expanding the market leading UXM 5G Network Emulation Solutions to simulate Wi-Fi devices and traffic to cover new use cases from the latest IEEE 802.11be standards,” said Mosaab Abughalib, a senior R&D director and general manager for Keysight’s Wireless Test Group. “The E7515W solution enables faster test setups with less complexity and delivers better load and bandwidth performance to help Wi-Fi 7 device makers accelerate time to market.”
