goTenna secures $99mn IDIQ contract to enhance connectivity, improve operational safety

goTenna, was awarded a 4-year, $99 million (€92.89 million) IDIQ (indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity) contract with US customs and border protection (CBP). This small business innovative research (SBIR) phase III contract will provide US Border Patrol (USBP) and CBP enterprise with mesh networking capabilities, including radios and fixed relays, software solutions, training, services, and partner accessories. The University of Liverpool’s project secures £9mn to tackle challenges of digital connectivity

The University of Liverpool’s project, has been awarded £9 million (€10.48 million) funding from department of science, innovation and technology. It aims to tackle challenge of poor digital connectivity in places where there is a high user demand such as busy railway stations, football matches or large concert venues. The Liverpool City Region High Demand Density (Liverpool City Region HDD) project aims to demonstrate benefits of open RAN (radio access network) technology to support large number of users accessing mobile and internet services in settings such as sports and music venues. Trusted Connectivity Alliance announces new chair to promote eSIM interoperability

Trusted Connectivity Alliance (TCA) has announced election of Bertrand Moussel (Valid) as chair of board for 2023-4. The organisation works to promote eSIM (embedded subscriber identity module) interoperability, advanced use of eSIM technology across upcoming IoT (internet of things) use-cases and support sustainable creation. Moussel has served on TCA’s board since 2016 and succeeds Claus Dietze (Giesecke+Devrient), who stepped down following three consecutive terms as chair. Dietze remains on board alongside Benoit Collier (IDEMIA), Christian Vignes (STMicroelectronics) and Stephane Quetglas (Thales). The re-election of Cyril Caillaud (NXP Semiconductors) and Jean-Philippe Betoin (Kigen) to the two rotating seats completes the board for 2023-4. (more…)

Iridium provides global connectivity for XCMG’s heavy equipment

Iridium Communications Inc., announced that Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG), will deploy Iridium IoT (internet of things) services on its global fleet of heavy equipment, starting with excavators and expanding to loaders and crane trucks as needed.
