CEVA’s Bluetooth 5.4 IP gains SIG qualification with new features for ESL market

CEVA, Inc. has announced that its rivierawaves bluetooth 5.4 platform is SIG (special interest group) qualified and already licensed to several customers, including to those addressing electronic shelf label (ESL) market. Global technology intelligence firm ABI Research forecasts that ESL (electronic shelf label) market will grow from nearly 185 million annual shipments in 2022 to nearly 560 million units by 2027, with bluetooth-enabled ESLs accounting for a growing portion of overall market. Comcast, CCBC launch Digital Navigator programme to get more homes connected to internet

Comcast and Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) have announced launch of new Digital Navigator programme. This will utilise trained students to get more Baltimore-area residents including CCBC students connected to the Internet at home, while also teaching digital literacy skills and how to use devices. The programme is supported by a $150,000 (€139792.50) grant from Comcast that will be used to hire and train nearly a dozen CCBC students. (more…)

FCC, HUD partner to promote internet access for low-income communities

The Federal Communications Commission and US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced partnership to promote awareness of Affordable Connectivity Programme (ACP) among federal housing assistance recipients. HUD secretary Marcia L. Fudge announced partnership while engaging with community members and touring a recently built computer lab at Yesler Terrace in Seattle,Washington. The partnership agreement reflects HUD’s commitment to increase outreach activities, alongside work both agencies are doing to decrease time it takes for recipients of HUD assistance to sign up for programme. The partnership monitors work that commission is doing to coordinate with other federal agencies to ensure that low-income households participating in eligible federal assistance programmmes are provided information about ACP, including how to enroll in programme. Starting this week, FCC and HUD will partner on ACP outreach targeted toward recipients of HUD assistance. (more…)

USDA grants AIRRAQ broadband fibre project to three more rural Alaska communities

GCI announced that it has been granted $35 million (€32.40 million) from US Department of Agriculture Rural Development’s ReConnect programme to bring fibre-optic connectivity to Toksook BayEmmonak, and Tununak. Connectivity will be delivered to three communities through an expansion of AIRRAQ network, a joint GCI-Bethel Native Corporation (BNC) project to deliver high-speed broadband service to communities in Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta.
