Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) has announced public release of Get Ready for Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity) 7: Applying new capabilities to the key use cases, a report that explores how this technology will change the way people worldwide live, work and play. Based on the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) 802.11be (extreme high throughput) standard, Wi-Fi 7 has a variety of advanced capabilities. nexfibre, in partnership with Virgin Media O2, has reached an agreement with fibre operator, Upp, to acquire provider. The acquisition will boost fibre footprint of nexfibre by 175,000 premises in East of England and ensure investment and network build in region continues for years to come. The all-cash deal sees Virgin Media O2 initially purchase provider and carry out integration work, but nexfibre will thereby fund acquisition through a back-to-back agreement to buy Upp’s network assets. Iridium Communications Inc., announced that Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG), will deploy Iridium IoT (internet of things) services on its global fleet of heavy equipment, starting with excavators and expanding to loaders and crane trucks as needed. XCMG will utilise Iridium’s global network to maintain critical connectivity with their heavy equipment in main locations including Australia, Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, and Central Asia. GigNet has completed a fibre-optic broadband network that stretches from Costa Mujeres, located north of Cancun, through hotel zone in Tulum. As part of this achievement, advanced broadband connectivity solutions were provided, including a sponsored public Wi-Fi zone. This was implemented during Alejandro Fernandez concert at Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, Mexico, which took place on August 19th, 2023.
