The article noted that 72% of consumers are unlikely to introduce smart home technology in the next two to five years. The latest industrial revolution – Industry 4.0 for those keeping count – conjures images of drones delivering parcels, self-driving cars, smart robotics and 3D printing, wrties Mark Armstrong the vice president and managing director for EMEA at Progress. The SmartThings Living Future report created by a group of academics and futurologists recently launched its vision of the future depicting 3D printed homes, downloadable food and underwater cities. 2015 was a big year for the connected car, writes Martin Booth from SanDisk Industrial and Automotive Solutions. Since we started talking about Software Defined things , we have moved, along with the rest of the IT industry, from using the narrow term SDN to the broader SDx. This has allowed us to use one acronym to encompass software-defined networking, data centres, storage, server and any yet to be developed technologies that are all software-defined.
