UWindsor, TELUS to drive 5G research in agriculture, advanced manufacturing, autonomous vehicles

Windsor, Ontario, Canada. 25 January 2023 – The University of Windsor (UWindsor) and TELUS have announced launch of 5G connected campus and commercial lab to support research with 5G technology and establish the university as a go-to centre for innovation. TELUS, a communications technology company, is investing $5 million (€4.59 million) as part of a multi-year agreement that began in 2020 to fuel the development of new applications for 5G technology. The collaboration will not only support multidisciplinary research in the agriculture, manufacturing, and connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) sectors, it will transform UWindsor campuses to enhance teaching, innovation and collaboration. Ciena acquires Benu Networks, outlines intention to pick up Tibit Communications

Ciena Corporation, a networking systems, services and software company has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Tibit Communications, Inc., a privately-held company headquartered in Petaluma, California, and that it has acquired Benu Networks, Inc., a privately-held company headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts. Huawei calls upon industry players to work together and move faster to ultra-broadband 5.5G

Bangkok, Thailand – The ultra-broadband forum 2022 raised its curtain in Bangkok, with David Wang, Huawei’s executive director of the board and chairman of the ICT infrastructure managing board, delivering a keynote speech titled Stride to ultra-broadband 5.5G. During this speech, Wang outlined the enormous changes that are set to take place in areas like smart homes, smart campuses, and industrial Internet by 2030. He also made it clear that ultra-broadband 5.5G will be a key milestone on the path to an intelligent world and recommended that the industry take four key steps to accelerate this process. City of Las Vegas and NTT deploy largest private 5G network in US
