National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced that it has awarded seven grants totaling nearly $3.5 million (€3.22 million) to seven Tribal entities as part of Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program (TBCP). With funding from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, these recent grants bring total of program to more than $1.79 billion (€1.65 billion) awarded to 198 Tribal entities. Siemens Mobility and ÖBB are digitising Austrian rail network to further enhance attractiveness of public transport. ÖBB is aiming to double the capacity of Austria’s entire rail system by 2040 to cope with increasing passenger numbers. This goal is now a bit closer. The digital European Train Control System ETCS has now been implemented and commissioned on 57-kilometre route between Linz and Vocklabruck. This controls distances between trains, as well as their direction and speed in real time thereby enabling route to carry more passengers and freight, and ensuring that trains run more punctually, and safely. Hughes Network Systems, LLC, an EchoStar company, announced that it has been awarded a five-year, indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract by the US Space Force for proliferated low earth orbit (LEO) satellite-based services.
