ETSI launches OpenSlice group to deliver mobile network slicing as a service

ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) has announced establishment of its software development group, called OpenSlice. With this group, ETSI positions itself as a focal point for development and experimentation with network slicing. OpenSlice is creating an open-source, service-based operations support system (OSS) to deliver network slice as a service (NSaaS) in alignment with specifications from standards development organisations, including 3GPP, TM Forum, and GSMA. Powerlink selects Ribbon Communications to modernise operational network

Ribbon Communications Inc., a provider of real-time communications technology and IP (internet protocol) optical networking solutions, has announced that it has been selected by Powerlink to help modernise the Australian state of Queensland’s electrical transmission grid. AMN selects Hughes to expand mobile network access for consumers in Madagascar, Nigeria

Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), an EchoStar company, announced that Africa Mobile Networks (AMN), has selected the Hughes JUPITER System ground platform to backhaul 2G, 3G and 4G cellular network traffic in Madagascar and Nigeria. AMN will use Hughes JUPITER gateways and remote terminals to link hundreds of cellular towers via satellite. This will allow AMN operator clients to access more users in hard-to-reach areas, bridging the region’s digital divide. Glo Fiber announces expansion of fibre network to Mount Joy, Pennsylvania
