A new study by Juniper Research has found that network operator spend on MEC (Multi-access Edge Computing) will grow from $2.7 billion (€2.22 billion) in 2020, to $8.3 billion (€6.83 billion) in 2025, as operators invest heavily in upgrading network capacities and infrastructure to support the increasing data generated by 5G networks. Samsung SmartThings, the provider in smart home automation, announced a partnership with Google, bringing the company’s portfolio of Nest products into SmartThings, one of the IoT ecosystems. Through the integration, Google Nest devices, including thermostats, cameras and doorbells, will be “Works With SmartThings” (WWST) certified, allowing users to seamlessly control their smart homes through SmartThings.
