Metronet has announced that Portage’s residents and businesses located in initial construction areas now have access to full fibre optic internet. Iteris, Inc., a trusted technology ecosystem for smart mobility infrastructure management, announced it has been selected to modernise public transit in Mérida, the capital of the Mexican state of Yucatán, as part of a United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA)-funded ITS modernisation project. This project is Iteris’ initial international ITS consulting project funded by USTDA, and one of the large-scale projects in Latin America focusing on ITS solutions and bus electrification as part of modernising public transportation networks.

BT Group announces that its start-up and digital incubation team, Etc., will, over the next two years, conduct technical and commercial pilots to convert or upgrade its street cabinets for electric vehicle charging units. The pilots will provide critical insight into the viability to scale EV charging to more locations across its estate. The cabinets are currently used for providing copper-based broadband and phone services, and will be decommissioned as the ambitious nationwide upgrade to full fibre progresses. ETSIÂ (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) has announced establishment of its software development group, called OpenSlice. With this group, ETSI positions itself as a focal point for development and experimentation with network slicing.
