u-blox ZED-F9K high-precision GNSS module to enhance assisted driving in Li Auto’s new Li L9
Thalwil, Switzerland. 1 November 2022 – u-blox, a global provider of positioning and wireless communication technologies and services, has announced that Li Auto, an specialist in China’s new energy vehicle market, has chosen the u-blox ZED-F9K high precision dead reckoning module to provide lane-level accurate positioning data for the assisted driving system in their latest model, the Li L9 6-seat smart SUV.
Launched in June, the Li L9 comes equipped with a full-stack, self-developed Li AD MAX smart driving system with Navigation on ADAS (NOA) functionality. Designed for complex road conditions, Li L9’s driving assistance system recognises traffic lights, pileups, and road shoulders and features adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, automatic merging, intelligent speed adjustment, automatic ramp entering and leaving, and visual parking functions that require an accurate positioning system.
The u-blox F9 GNSS technology platform provides the high location accuracy required to enable several of these features. Designed to serve mass market industrial and automotive applications, the u-blox F9 platform combines multi-band global navigation satellite system (GNSS) technology with dead reckoning and high precision algorithms, and is compatible with a variety of GNSS correction data services to achieve accuracy down to the centimetre level.
The u-blox F9 platform delivers a fast time to first fix (TTFF) by using multi-band (L1/L2/L5) GNSS signals to provide robustness against interference and errors caused by ionospheric effects. By concurrently receiving signals from four GNSS constellations (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou), it leverages a greater diversity of satellite signals to increase the availability of high precision positioning even in difficult urban environments. Using a multi-band real-time kinematic (RTK) correction service and an embedded RTK algorithm, the platform can achieve centimetre-level accuracy with an RTK update rate of up to 20 Hz.
The u-blox F9 platform sets a high standard for security with built-in jamming and spoofing detection systems that protect against intentional and unintentional interference. Dead reckoning technology based on inertial sensors extends high precision performance to otherwise challenging urban environments.
“It is always rewarding when an innovator such as Li Auto puts their trust into u-blox and our F9 high precision GNSS technology platform to enhance the capability of their Li AD MAX smart driving system,” says Hamilton Chen, country manager, u-blox China.
