Telenor IoT has announced the launch of an expanded, dedicated team focused on the automotive industry. Marie Högberg, with extensive automotive connectivity experience both within and outside Telenor, has been appointed the head of automotive and will take permanent responsibility for leading the new unit. This team will drive the development of advanced value propositions and industry-specific solutions, reinforcing Telenor’s commitment to supporting automotive customers worldwide.
The automotive industry has been a pioneer in Internet of Things (IoT) and is the largest vertical from a market value perspective in IoT —a share expected to grow. As vehicles transition from hardware-centric machines to software-defined vehicles, over-the-air updates have become essential for continuous improvements. At the same time, the consumer experience has taken centre stage, with in-car services and digital features now as important as the vehicle itself.
Car manufacturers face an increasingly complex landscape, navigating challenges such as global connectivity management, regulatory requirements, security and in-car infotainment—all of which demand seamless, secure and scalable connectivity.
Telenor IoT’s new dedicated team will operate globally, bringing specialised expertise and a sharp industry focus to address these evolving demands. With strengthened ambitions and world-class connectivity solutions, Telenor is committed to equipping car OEMs with the capabilities and expertise they need to succeed—today and in the future.
Commenting on the announcement, Mats Lundquist, the CEO of Telenor Connexion and the head of Telenor IoT, said: “From the beginning, we have been a pioneer in automotive connectivity, driven by close collaboration with our customers. The new specialised unit strengthens our competitive edge in the automotive sector while expanding our product portfolio to meet the needs of customers seeking world-class IoT operations and platform capabilities.”
