Smart delivers network coverage in partnership with Huawei and Ericsson, lights up MOA Ball
Smart Communications, Inc., the global partner of FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, has collaborated with technology partners Huawei and Ericsson. This partnership aims to enhance and ensure continuous LTE (Long-Term Evolution) and 5G coverage across tournament venues, such as Smart Araneta Coliseum, SM Mall of Asia Arena, and Philippine Arena.
Smart subscribers trooping to the venues can expect mobile experience not just during the much-anticipated games from Aug. 25 to Sept. 10, but also in all the concerts and events after the tournament. With Smart’s fast speed and wide coverage, subscribers can share their favorite gameplays on social media in real-time, send videos of iconic moments to their loved ones and friends in seconds, and upload all their memorable photos online in an instant.
Measuring 1.5 metres in diameter inside a ring with 111 metres in circumference, the MOA Ball was a collaboration of Smart with agency Gigil as well as media agency Metropolis and production partner UpRising. A total of 248 workers, including site workers, engineers, safety officers, and designers, among others, put up the installation amid days of heavy downpours in the last three weeks.
The MOA Ball is the recent of Smart’s epic installations around Metro Manila to drum up the country’s historic hosting of the FIBA Basketball World Cup from Aug. 25 to Sept. 10. Earlier, Smart mounted a basketball ring at EDSA-Pioneer Street and launched a 3D Digital Billboard in Bonifacio High Street Crosswalk.
Smart is all-out in bringing the basketball experiences to subscribers and fans, powered by the Philippines’ fast mobile network, as cited by global network analytics firm Ookla for three consecutive reporting periods – in Q1-Q2 2022, Q3-Q4 2022, and Q1-Q2 2023. To know more, visit Smart.
