Smart lighting can be paired with the company’s existing Smart Deter feature. If an associated Vivint Outdoor Camera or Doorbell Camera Pro detects someone in the set Deter Zone, the lights can automatically turn on – just like it would if someone was home and checking in on what’s happening.
Vivint expands smart home experience with new smart lighting category
Vivint Smart Home, a smart home company, announced Vivint smart lighting, a lighting solution designed to make homes safer, smarter, and more sustainable. Vivint smart lighting enables users to place switches anywhere, doesn’t require electrical work, ensures dependable connectivity, and expands the smart home capabilities at home.
“Smart lighting has been one of our top requested categories and we’re thrilled to bring this experience to customers,” says Jim Nye, chief product officer at Vivint. “In developing Vivint smart lighting, our goal was to create the most user-friendly and effective lighting solution that overcomes common pain points and integrates seamlessly with the Vivint platform. We’re excited to bring this new category to the Vivint suite and to continue expanding the power of our smart home ecosystem.”
Vivint smart lighting consists of three basic pieces, including:
- Vivint smart light switch: Vivint smart light switch covers up existing light switches and wall plates, regardless of whether it is toggle or rocker switches, with no electrical work required. It can also be placed on surfaces without existing switches, allowing to “rewire” home without touching a wire. Vivint smart light switch also gives the ability to dim lights with intuitive controls at the switch, with voice, or through the Vivint app.
- Smart bulbs: Powered by Zigbee, smart bulbs replace existing light bulbs and come in a variety of options, including Standard A19 bulbs, Flood bulbs (BR30), and LED (light-emitting diode) recessed lights, with additional bulbs coming soon. Vivint smart lighting is also compatible with Zigbee-powered bulbs, providing even more flexibility for lighting choices.
- Vivint smart lighting bridge: A dedicated bridge providing dependable wireless communication between Vivint smart lighting products and the Vivint smart hub, enabling integration with Vivint smart home system, and expanding smart home and smart security capabilities.
Intelligent connection
For instance, when smart lighting is paired with Vivint sensors and cameras, users and professionals alike can start to programme specific automations. A simple example is the lights turning on as a homeowner approaches their home, however, Vivint has suggested that these automations can get as specific as the house turning off all lights as the homeowner climbs into bed for the evening.
Introducing Away lighting
Other features, such as Away Lighting, also elevates the offering into something far more substantial than its form, allowing the system to cycling lighting on and off to make it seem like someone is always home.
Smarter security

It’s simple to customise and expand light switch placement throughout the home with Vivint smart lighting. Vivint smart lighting is also connected through a dedicated Zigbee network that doesn’t rely on Wi-Fi or bog down the network like traditional smart lighting solutions often do.
Easy to control
Vivint smart lighting eliminates the confusion around how to control the lights by making them controllable from any location without shutting down the power to smart bulbs.
