By 2030, billions of terabytes of data will need to be transmitted to, across, and from space. Skyloom provides fibreless optical communications at the speed of business. The company’s planetary-scale solutions for ultra high-bandwidth communications unlock secure, high-capacity data transport for satellite-to-satellite, satellite-to-earth, and earth-to-satellite transmissions.

Skyloom is already working with the U.S. Space Force’s Space Development Agency (SDA), and the company recently announced a collaboration with Space Compass, a joint venture between SKY Perfect JSAT and NTT, two of Japan’s space and telecommunications companies, respectively. That partnership is squarely focused on meeting the data transport needs of the rapidly expanding earth observation market.

“Campbell’s proven leadership and steady hand will drive our ability to meet the enormous and growing demand in both the commercial market and government and defense applications,” says Marcos Franceschini, CEO of Skyloom Global Corporation. “We’re excited to work shoulder-to-shoulder with him in serving the needs of our customers.”

Prior to Skyloom, Marshall served as vice president, government & international markets at Omnispace, where he built and led their government and military-focused business, as well as played a key role in market expansion from the company’s inception.

Before that, he was part of the investment team at Xerion Fund, a multi-billion-dollar hedge fund within Perella Weinberg Partners. Prior to that, Marshall spent over a decade as a national security professional with the U.S. government focusing on a range of pressing international security and economic issues.

“The only thing more impressive than Skyloom’s technology is its people – and I couldn’t be more honored to be in a position to support them,” says Campbell Marshall, chief operating officer of Skyloom Global Corporation. “History repeats itself, and technology is no exception. The internet was born when two computers were connected in the sixties. In the nineties, we began to connect cities and continents. Today, we need a telecom infrastructure to meet the increasingly sophisticated needs of users across the planet. To connect the entire world, we must venture into space to lay the equivalent of fibre optic cable. Skyloom, in collaboration with our partners, is paving the way.”

Campbell Marshall will be attending Silicon Valley Space Week in Mountain View, CA from October 11 – October 14, 2022. He will be speaking on a panel entitled “Improving secure data distribution using cloud services and big data in next-gen ground networks” on October 13, from 12:20 -1:10 pm PT.
