Paris, France – Putra Mulia Telecommunication (PMT), Actility, and its subsidiary Abeeway are working together to expand IoT adoption and the use of tracking devices in Indonesia. PMT is a known player in the Indonesian telecommunication industry specialiSing in Managed Services with more than 10-years of experience and managing over several thousands of tower sites nationwide, and has now joined the Actility Parner Program.
PMT offers business network managed services, telco tower managed service infrastructure management, and other professional services all over Indonesia. More recently, PMT has expanded to other services such as Internet of Things (IoT), data centres, network rollouts and other telco-related services.
PMT, headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia, counts with a workforce of over 2250 employees. PMT, is one of the subsidiaries from OCK Group Bhd in Malaysia, also an Actility Solutions Partner, and only mainly focuses on the Indonesian market. OCK is a regional telecommunication, mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineering service company, which provides engineering services to cellular operators and equipment to vendors in the areas of full turnkey network roll-out, planning, optimiSation, operations, and maintenance.
PMT is one of the provider of telecommunications network services. They mainly provide managed services including tower management, operational management as well as program management. Other than managed services, PMT also provides turnkey solutions for telecommunications clientele mainly comprising telecommunications operators and telecommunications technology providers, encompassing network planning, design and optimisation, network deployment, in-building coverage design planning and implementation as well as FTTX solution and service.
Finding IoT and LoRaWAN at the core of COVID-19 safety
Through this partnership PMT seeks to now broaden its IoT solutions through the ability to offer ready to deploy IoT solutions for new use cases needed by their clients. PMT also seeks to increase the offer in IoT LoRaWAN connected tracking devices and broaden the spectrum of use cases which can be delivered through these devices.
Among these use cases is the Proximity Policy Enforcement Solutions, aimed to protect workers from COVID-19 whilst at their workspace. It has such a high success rate that PMT itself has implemented it for its employees in their own premises.
Nowadays, due to the sanitary crisis, businesses must ensure social distancing and contact tracing to allow their workers to feel more confident about working in co-located physical workplaces. Automating the monitorisation of new safety policies, while empowering employees as part of the new normal in business operations and making them feel safe when returning to the office, is critical for any organisation.
So PMT has also felt an increasing need to protect its substantial number of workers through such a solution and has counted with Actility’s expertise in this area to mitigate the effects of the pandemic on the company and people related to it.
This solution, which works combining LoRaWAN technology offered by Actility with Abeeway’s Smart Badges, helps to enforce physical distancing and limited occupation density to prevent individual contamination, while offering real-time monitoring of policies and traceability which helps managers take mitigation measures immediately, such as retaining non-compliant personnel.
The solution also allows us to avoid temporary shutdowns of operating businesses through enhanced safety measures and tracks all interactions between infected and healthy people to identify contamination clusters.
LoRaWAN or the technology behind it all
LoRaWAN is the ideal technology for solutions like this. LoRaWAN is a widely used wireless protocol which allows battery-powered sensors to communicate with IoT applications via a long-range, ultra-low data rate connection, resulting in longer battery life.
Actility provides the LoRaWAN IoT connectivity management solution with ThingPark Enterprise, a platform that helps customers build network infrastructure by managing LoRaWAN gateways, adding sensors, monitoring network operations, and controlling the flow of data to application servers, enabling the deployment of large-scale IoT projects in record time.
Actility’s subsidiary, Abeeway, provides various tracking devices that work both indoors and outdoors thanks to their multi- technology geolocation system, integrating GPS, Abeeway’s patented Low-power GPS, Wi-Fi Sniffing and Bluetooth Low Energy.
Working towards an enduring LoRaWAN ecosystem
The need for reliable tracking solutions has risen for PMT as goals for future growth have been set. Actility and Abeeway have proven to be the perfect partners for this offer, due to their acquired knowledge throughout years of experience, thousands of use cases deployed, and wide relationships with global partners in hardware and vertical applications. Actility and Abeeway provide the necessary confidence to bring many smart solutions using LoRaWAN technology to the market.
