Fibocom, a global provider of IoT (Internet of Things) wireless solutions and wireless communication modules, reports that Dan Schieler has been appointed to the position of chief executive officer of Rolling Wireless Technology Co., Ltd. This is a joint venture company invested by Fibocom and three other professional investment institutions.
Fibocom’s board chair, Peter Zhang says, “Dan is a high-energy, performance-driven executive with proven results in managing teams to their highest levels of execution. His deep experience in managing multi-nation, multi-function teams and sales driving excellence while managing business transformation will be a significant asset for Rolling Wireless. The automotive industry is a key IoT market that no serious module vendor can ignore.
Fibocom has acquired the automotive embedded module product line from Sierra Wireless through Rolling Wireless as Dan assumes the position of CEO. I believe Dan’s joining will greatly enhance our presence in the global automotive embedded module market.”
Dan Schieler joins Rolling Wireless from Sierra Wireless, where he spent more than 15 years as senior vice president of different business units, worldwide teams totalling more than 1,000 people. These consisted of research & development (R&D), Product Management and Sales/Technical support teams. He managed revenues of over a billion dollars, and made key decisions on the evaluation of organic investments in the business as well as growing the business through strategic acquisitions.
From 2005 to 2010, he successfully integrated the Sierra Wireless and Wavecom sales and engineering support teams, reportedly resulting in a more efficient and profitable worldwide organisation. Before joining Rolling Wireless from 2018 to present, Schieler was the SVP and general manager of Sierra Wireless OEM Automotive.
“I am passionate about Rolling Wireless’s global opportunity and excited to lead our automotive team,” says Schieler. “Fibocom has been enjoying fast and healthy growth over the past 20 years in the global wireless embedded module market. The investments we will make into the connected vehicle market will enable us to grow exponentially on the existing business we acquired. I look forward to executing on the massive automotive opportunity ahead of us.”
