Telit, a global enabler of the Internet of Things (IoT), has expanded its partnership with Wind River to accelerate industrial IoT (IIoT) adoption.
The cloud-hosted IoT platform, Telit deviceWISE, provides out-of-the-box lifecycle management for Wind River’s operating systems. In conjunction with Wind River’s IoT Design Centre, this collaboration is said to enable customers to create a complete, secure, robust and reliable edge-to-cloud IIoT solution.
In October 2017, Telit and Wind River began collaborating to reduce the complexities of IoT device management, so providers and other users can implement IIoT faster and more broadly. As a platinum member of the Wind River Partner Programme, Telit will now serve as a provider of device lifecycle management to enable Wind River IIoT customers to accelerate the modernisation of their on-premises edge equipment and infrastructure.
As part of this expanded relationship, Wind River has provided Telit with Wind River developed device-side agent technology. The C and Python, developer-friendly, agents have been validated with Wind River operating systems, including VxWorks and Wind River Linux – providing operating environments for those building edge solutions for real time mission critical industrial, emergency first responders and related applications.
“Our expanded platinum partnership with Wind River gives manufacturers and other organisations powerful new options for quickly and broadly implementing edge-to-cloud IIoT,” said Fred Yentz, Telit’s president of strategic partnerships.
“Through our collaboration with Telit we’re enabling the modernisation of our customers’ edge infrastructure to enable more automation and accelerate the evolution towards autonomous systems,” said Michael Krutz, Wind River chief product officer. “We look forward to building upon our proven track record of success with Telit to advance the digital transformation of critical infrastructure.”
For nearly 40 years, Wind River software has helped power generation after generation of the safest, most secure devices in the world. The company’s comprehensive portfolio continues to evolve, empowering a wide variety of IoT use cases across market segments including aerospace, defense, industrial, medical, networking, and transportation.
Telit has built an IoT platform offering that addresses the needs of OEMs, enterprises and service providers around the world. Its deviceWISE platform offers connectivity management, device management, data management, edge, cloud and enterprise ready-to-use connectors and services that reduce the risk and time-to-market of connecting ‘things to apps,’ by collecting, managing, and analysing critical device data.
