TP-Link®, a global provider of consumer and business networking products, announced that consumers may now control the colour-change and white-tuning features of their TP-Link Smart Bulbs via the “TP-Link Kasa” smart home skill for Amazon Alexa.

With this updated skill, consumers can use simple voice commands via Amazon Alexa to change the colour of their LB130 smart bulbs and the white-tuning of both their LB120 and LB130 Smart Bulbs. TP-Link worked closely with the Amazon Alexa team to develop this new smart home skill.

“TP-Link’s dedicated research and development team always strives for new ways to enhance the smart home experience of our customers,” said David Li, CEO of TP-Link Research America Corporation. “Our successful ongoing collaboration with Amazon allows us to continue developing new ways for consumers to personalise their smart homes.”

The enhanced TP-Link Kasa smart home skill for Amazon Alexa makes it easier than ever to select the perfect lighting for any mood or setting. Users can tell Alexa to make bedroom lights warmer in the evening to improve sleep or ask Alexa for cool white light in the office, to help concentrate on work. It’s also easier than ever to adjust brightness levels, change the temperature of white light or quickly flip the lights to the colours of your favourite sports team. You can even change the colour to a romantic pink or bold red for date night, simply using the sound of your voice.

“TP-Link is strongly committed to the smart home category,” said Lewis Wu, executive vice president at TP-Link USA. “Through our relationship with Amazon’s Alexa team, we continue to find new ways to innovate and offer consumers feature-rich products that will make their lives easier.”

In order to use Amazon Alexa voice control to change the colour or temperature of TP-Link Smart Bulbs, consumers will first need to pair their TP-Link LB120 or TP-Link LB130 Smart Bulbs with Amazon Alexa. Once paired, the customer can enable this smart home skill, link accounts, discover devices and begin using voice control. Existing TP-Link Kasa app users whose smart home devices are already paired with their device with Amazon Alexa do not need to take any steps to enjoy this new feature.

Sample Phrases Include:

“Alexa, turn on my bedroom lights”

“Alexa, brighten downstairs to 60%”

“Alexa, dim the living room lights”

“Alexa, set the bedroom light to blue”

“Alexa, turn the kitchen orange”

“Alexa, set the kitchen light to cool white”

“Alexa, make my bedroom light warmer/cooler”

The updated Kasa skill works with both TP-Link LB120 and LB130 TP-Link Smart Wi-Fi Bulbs. TP-Link LB120 and LB130 Smart Wi-Fi Bulbs are available online and at Amazon, Argos, BT, DID Electrical, Dixons/PC World, Ebuyer, Fonehouse, Freemans, Harvey Norman, Grattans, Maplin, SCAN, Powercity and Selfridges.
