It is evident that the social, economic, and political environment influence the demand for new technologies and innovations. Technology has taken giant strides forward in the last decade.
The field of data transfer, cloud computing, cloud security, and cloud networking has made a commendable progress. The global population has embraced urbanisation and globalisation and come to terms with new developments in technology. The Internet of Things (IoT) has picked up and gained a lot of popularity among the masses. Internet is now easily accessible and almost every individual can use the internet on their mobile phones and other device.
Consumer grade goods have become cheaper and affordable leading to a high demand for smartphones and tablets. Cellular companies offer internet service at an affordable and reasonable price. The internet has made its presence felt in the middle class section of the society and the demand for the same is set to grow in the future, says Karandeep Virdi of Big Market Research.
Today, computer sensors are plugged in offices, shops, factories, and cars that enable smooth and smart operations using industrial internet or the Internet of Things. IBM, the American computer services and Software Company, revealed that the company’s internet business surged from 4000 paying customers to 6000 customers towards the end of 2015. IoT offers billions of machine parts the ability to send and receive data is instrumental in IBM’s success as it focusses on operations such as analytics, security, and cloud services that guarantee profitable growth to the company.
Vernon Turner, an IDC IoT analyst throws light on the matter and expects the market to take off in 2019. He reveals that around one-third of corporate customers have turned to developing and launching IoT projects while many others have similar projects in the pipeline. The demand is for IoT is huge and to cope up with this surge in demand, IBM is set to hire over 1000 people in the next few years.
In modern times, electronic devices, machines, cars, factories, and cities have become smart, have embraced the modern technology, and are coping with the same. The way technology has advanced and progressed in the last decade, it is impossible to predict what the future holds for us. Computers have become smaller and smarter. Several smart electronic devices are equipped with sensors and connected to the internet enabling uninterrupted flow of data.
IoT is termed to be a part of the next wave in communication revolution. The scope and growth opportunity of the technology is huge. The popularity of IoT is closely tracked and monitored by investors who are seeking lucrative investment pockets. Any tech revolution is driven by emerging new age components.
Components that have reduced energy remarkably to acquire, manage, and transfer information have been a crucial part of every wave of communication network revolution. The progress made in compute-communicate energy efficiency in the last 50 years has been astounding and with research and development activities in full swing it won’t come as a surprise to witness many more remarkable developments in the field of communication and Internet of Things.
The demand for smart appliances, devices has fueled the growth of the IoT industry. Today, data transfer and storage is easier and faster. The adoption of the internet is huge and growing exponentially on the daily basis.
Western regions such as U.S and Europe have seen the Internet of Things technology being used in a wide plethora of applications and devices, such as cars, factories, and offices. IoT has become a crucial part of modern technology and it is impossible to imagine a world without the technology.
